Osceola History Hosts Second Annual Antiques & Appraisal Fair

Do you have treasures buried in your attic? Have you ever wondered how much that watch from your great-grandmother is worth?

Gather your family heirlooms and bring them to Osceola History’s second annual Antiques and Appraisal Fair on June 27, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Osceola County Welcome Center & History Museum. The event will coincide with the opening of the new “Tools of the Trade” special exhibit. The Welcome Center and History Museum is located at 4155 W. Vine Street in Kissimmee.

The Osceola History staff is taking precautions to provide a safe environment for museum visitors. Guests are encouraged to practice social distancing and wear face coverings while in the museum.

Professional antiques dealers will be available to give verbal appraisals. These appraisals are meant to give a general idea of the worth of an item and are not intended for insurance or resale purposes. In conjunction with the “Tools of the Trade” exhibit in the museum, the appraisal fair will include an appraiser who specializes in old tools.

Proceeds from the event benefit Osceola History’s mission to collect and preserve the county’s history and to provide educational and recreational activities that highlight the area’s cultural and natural heritage.

A staff member will be available at the appraisal fair to discuss possible donations of items to the Osceola History’s collection.

Ticket Information

Appraisal fair tickets are $10 for one appraised item, $15 for two items, or $20 for three items. Admission to the museum is free.

Tickets are available at www.osceolahistory.org (click on events calendar). Tickets are also available at the Osceola County Welcome Center & History Museum. People buying tickets in advance will receive a scheduled appointment to avoid too many guests in the museum at one time.

Tools of the Trade

The Tools of the Trade exhibit showcases the objects and tools used by architects, barbers, dentists, farmers, homemakers, pharmacists, saddlers and cobblers, and telephone operators. The exhibit opening on June 27 will include a soap-making demonstration and local artists sharing their work. The exhibit will run through October 12, 2020, and is funded in part by the State of Florida Department of Cultural Affairs. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
