The Key West Aquarium was built during the Great Depression in 1933 as part of the Works Progress Administration Program. The Aquarium is home to stingrays, tropical and various local fish, sharks, turtles, sting rays and other sea creatures. Get up close to a variety of sea life during an educational programs including sharks, American Alligator, large game fish, sea turtles, stingrays, lion fish, iguanas and a Burmese python. Unique to the Key West Aquarium, the Scavengers of the Deep Exhibit displays the Giant Isopod – a creature that lives in the coldest, deepest, waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Touch many sea creatures in the Touch Tank including conchs, sea stars, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, and crabs. Help the Aquarium staff feed stingrays, crabs, and sharks. With so many opportunities to interact with the species, the Key West Aquarium offers endless opportunities to make memories.
