Kingsley Plantation is an historic site located on Fort George Island in Jacksonville, Florida. Constructed in 1798, it is the oldest surviving plantation house in the state of Florida and one of the earliest examples of architectural history in the American South. The plantation was once owned by Zephaniah Kingsley, a wealthy planter and merchant who practiced slavery on his land. Today, visitors can explore the grounds surrounding the plantation house, which include several slave cabins and other outbuildings that have been preserved from the original site. Additionally, visitors can learn about the cultural history of this area through guided tours and interactive exhibits at the Visitor Center.
