Have you ever taken a “slothie” or pet a porcupine? How about having lunch with an alligator? (A piece for you … a piece for him). Has a zebra ever stuck its head through your car window? These are definitely some of the most unique Florida experiences you can have at Wild Florida in Kenansville!
Florida is known for its tourism, hospitality and attractions. Some of the biggest and best theme parks in the WORLD are located here in the Orlando and Central Florida area. We are proud to host the Walt Disney World Resort including their four major theme parks – Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s EPCOT Theme Park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and their two water parks – Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park. The Universal Studios Orlando Resort – Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and Universal’s Volcano Bay Water Theme Park. We have SeaWorld Orlando, SeaWorld’s Aquatica Water Park and Discovery Cove inclusive resort. To the west of Orlando, about forty-five minutes is the LEGOLAND Florida Resort and the LEGOLAND water park and about an hour and a half away in Tampa, Florida there are Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Adventure Island Waterpark.
Phew. And those are just the major theme parks here in Central Florida. That list of theme parks in Orlando doesn’t even include the hundreds of smaller but amazing attractions and things to do throughout central Florida and beyond.
You might be looking to save money, maybe you’re looking for a more relaxing day trip, or perhaps you want to do something off the beaten path. Join us as we explore some of the unique, the quirky, the amazing, and wonderful attractions and things to do in Florida that aren’t the major theme parks.
Located only about forty-five minutes from the attractions area, on a huge nature preserve, you’ll be able to experience a glimpse of untouched, natural Florida in the “middle of nowhere” (yet not far at all!). Along with the gorgeous, nature walk, you can take an exhilarating airboat ride on Cypress Lake. When you’re finished seeing real Florida from the headwaters of the Everglades, take a walk through the Gator Park, enjoy live animal shows, or drive through their eighty-five-acre safari.
As you drive through the safari, you’ll have the chance to see over 200 exotic and local animals including ostriches, cattle, zebras, bison, and more. When you’re done, feed the giraffes from a tall platform so you can get face-to-face with the giraffes after your safari. The best part? If you miss some of the amazing animals on your first ride through the safari, you can go through again! How cool is that?!
If you haven’t seen enough animals on your drive, you can check out 200 more animals while walking through the exhibits in the Gator Park. Make sure to stay for the shows – you’ll learn about local and exotic animals and observe alligator training at the live shows
Of course, no experience would be complete without trying some of the tasty cuisine available – including Florida specialties, gator tail and catfish or for the less adventurous, salads, burgers, chicken, and bbq.
So if you’re looking to get outside the hustle and bustle of busy Orlando area, want to see incredible animals, have once in a lifetime animal encounter experiences, or enjoy a day on the lake without a building in sight, Wild Florida is the place to be!
